As a professional trained to address problems at the level of the system in which individuals operate, family therapy is often useful. I employ this approach to assist in improving troubled relationships with your significant other, children, and/or other family members. It is particularly useful when the focus of treatment is on family dynamics that have become too rigid or too chaotic; and when there’s any significant disruption in communication and problem-solving skills, family cohesion and cooperation.
I work with extended families, family-of-origin and family-of-choice. I also meet with adult children with their adult parents. The latter is utilized typically if there are ongoing issues with unresolved childhood issues or with difficulties establishing healthy independence and boundaries into adulthood.
